Features Week July Day 4: That’s Weird

How long have you had your podcast?

19 months now!

What inspired you to become a podcast?

We were coworkers that learned we both had an interest in weird stuff and wanted to talk about it.

What kinds of topics do you talk about on your podcast?

Anything weird! Mysteries, unsolved crimes, myths, cryptids, UFOs, conspiracies, monsters, etc.

What inspired the name of your podcast?

It’s the perfect way to describe the things we talk about and we say it a lot.

Which has been your favorite episode to record so far?

That’s so hard! Maybe our 50th episode? I feel like it was a big turning point for us. https://soundcloud.com/thatsweirdcast/50-the-lost-girls-of-panama-jake-birds-hex

What is the most challenging part about podcasting in the genre you’ve chosen?

Our genre is kinda oversaturated now. I mean, of course there’s room for everyone in the podcasting world, but it can be a little disheartening sometimes.

Do you have any funny stories from podcasting?

Every episode we each pick a topic and usually manage to keep it a secret from the other person until we record. Well, one time this backfired… because we somehow picked the same topic! Even though we were talking about the horrific unsolved murder of a family… it ended up being a pretty funny episode.

Is there anyone you’d like to promote?

Katie from TFGIF might just be the nicest person in podcasting. She’s sweet and supportive and everyone’s #1 fan. So naturally, we think she deserves some #1 fans of her own. She does a podcast about 90’s TV shows with her friend, Drew! The nostalgia is real. https://tfgifpodcast.com

Where can we find you on social media?

That’s Weird is one of my all-time favorite podcasts. I’m completely honored they decided to take some of their time to answer my questions.

Theirs is one of the few podcasts I’ll listen to multiple times over and that’s a big deal for me. Anyway, these girls are amazing, and you should totally check them out!!
