Features Week August Day 5: Rebecca Frohling

Rebecca is a fantastic person and wonderful Twitter friend. She has a YouTube Channel about writing, writes all kinds of awesome stuff, and is supportive and hilarious.

How long have you been writing?

Off and on for years, but seriously (that is, with the aim of doing something real with it) for about eight years now.

What inspired you to become a writer?

That’s a toughie. I don’t remember any special inspiration, just that it was something I had a knack for. I’m sure reading so much while growing up didn’t hurt!

Are you published anywhere?

My family Christmas play, The Family Fruitcake, can be found at www.histage.com.

Which of your written pieces is your favorite?

My favorite pieces are actually still being written, but I do have a few stories up on Wattpad I’m rather pleased with.

In what genre do you write?

I don’t set out to write in any specific genre, so I’m kind of all over the map. I have done a few suspenseful short stories recently.

What is the most challenging part about being a writer in the genre you’ve chosen?

As above, no specific genre, but as to basic writer challenges, it would be my kids! Love them to pieces but as a stay at home Mom I get no chance to write in summer.

What writer(s) do you look up to?

Terry Pratchett for his wit and wisdom, and cracking me up constantly through my teenage years. My fellow Twitter writers for an encouraging environment.

Do you have any encouraging words for those that want to write?

Oh, for goodness sakes. Just do it! No excuses! But I believe in you. Have a cookie.

Is there anyone you’d like to promote?

Absolutely, Twitter writing pals Jewel Leonard and S. Hunter Nisbet. (I’ve got many other pals but haven’t had the budget so far to read their works). Their books are excellent.

Where can we find you on social media?

On Twitter as @chipmunkofpower, on Instagram as @weirdwritersyt, and on YouTube at Weird Writers. The last I’m working on it being a hub of information, entertainment, and a place where we can come together and commiserate, kind of like Twitter.

Thanks so much to Rebecca for taking the time to answer these questions. She has so much on her plate and I’m happy to have had the chance to get to know her better. If you’re interested in her musings on life, she also has a blogging site. Now, go read some of her stories and watch some of her YouTube videos!
